6 GREAT REASONS FOR BECOMING ACTIVE IN THE SALEM AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 1) FREE and Reduced-Cost Advertising: Through a special arrangement with the Adirondack Broadcasting Company, the Chamber is able to offer broad-based radio coverage for your business on a cooperative basis. You can sponsor Chamber radio spots and share half of the time (:30) to promote your business at a rate far below what you’d pay on your own. Additionally, our new website has a “Featured Businesses” section which will promote your business on a quarterly rotation with other SACC businesses for free. 2) Economic Outreach: The Salem Economic Development Committee continues to work to attract appropriate new businesses to the Salem area. The new website will be a powerful ally in this effort, as it will feature two exciting new sections: a “filmmaker’s section” that promotes our area as a possible film location, and an “available business opportunities” section that will promote building vacancies and business locations available for rent. 3) NEW Website: Check out www.salemnychamber.com and see what the web committee has been up to. Stephen Trombley Productions has generously offered to produce the site at half-cost and has revamped the site for easier navigation and easier updating. The new site is visually more exciting and the copy more up-to-date, and it will feature a passworded planning calendar for area businesses and organizations to use to help plan upcoming events. This feature will be used by the Greenwich and Cambridge Chambers as well, so we can all adapt and perhaps plan cooperative ventures that will benefit everyone involved. Once the planning is secured, the events move over to the calendar that users will see. 4) NEW Office Space: Your Chamber has been working closely with the courthouse to secure a more visible (and warmer!) location for our office. The area immediately to the right when you enter the courthouse will be used by the Chamber to promote area businesses. (If you have brochures, business cards, flyers, etc., please drop them off there for display.) Additionally, we plan to share volunteer time with the courthouse volunteers so our desk and phone are manned on a much more regular basis. Volunteers warmly welcomed! 5) NEW Healthcare Benefits: See Larry Tomasini to inquire about the new Health Savings Accounts being offered through SSA. We have a new contact at SSA who is more responsive and has more products to offer than our previous fellow. 6) NEW MEMBERS: A committee has formed to review our membership renewal process; to “scrub” our current list and create a process for new sign-ups and renewals. This has resulted in a marked increase in membership, an exciting development as we continue to move forward. So please join us and become active in your Chamber…you’ll meet new people, have fun and build your business all at the same time! Al Budde, President, SACC |
